Sponsored by Byfords Café, Deli and Posh B&B >
The poet, TS Eliot described Marie Lloyd as "The greatest music hall artist of all time". The first great female stand-up comedian, she lives again in this celebrated show, which features all her famous songs: 'Don't Dilly Dally on the Way', 'A Little of What you Fancy does you Good' and 'The Boy I Love is Up in the Gallery'. It captures the riotous fun and irrepressible talent, as well as the pain and anguish, of a truly remarkable woman. Elizabeth Mansfield received an Olivier Award nomination as 'Best Actress in a Musical' for her performance at The Fortune Theatre, in London's West End, along with rave reviews.
Pinocchio
Presented by Indefinite Articles
Tuesday 4th August 2009
Steve Tiplady, as Geppetto, uses the objects of a carpenter's workshop to tell the tale of the puppet that wants to be a real boy, and the puppet-maker who wants to be a real father. Pinocchio is carved on stage; brushes become a fox and the shadow of two saws transforms into a giant shark. With especially composed music the show has something for all ages; it's inventive, visually and verbally witty with a big heart.
